Review: Outlook Travel Comfy Wool Pushchair Liner

Sprogmama accessories, pushchairs Reviews 0 Comment

Price: £25-£30 Approx
Retailer: Kiddicare

++ Good value, reversible, multiple fabrics, easy to clean
– Polar-fleece version not available in UK, only one colour

I love to review items which don’t seem to have much coverage online and this is a particularly good example. I googled extensively for user photos and opinions, but didn’t really find anything of help. I felt rather frustrated doing my research because certain details regarding the Travel Comfy are confusing.

Read on to see what I thought of it and view the gallery.

App Review: Little Fox Music Box

Sprogmama apps, ios, reviews App Reviews, Reviews 0 Comment

[AFG_gallery id='4'] I can’t tell you how happy I am when a really high quality app makes its way onto the App Store. Little Fox Music box is one such app. Apart from being beautifully illustrated, the interactive content is appealing to toddlers and the included songs are catchy and fun.

Little Fox Music Box features two well-known melodies – London Bridge and Old MacDonald – along with a gentle folk tune simply named “Evening Song”. The two former songs are sung by children and the words are displayed along the top for your little one to learn. You can also enable karaoke mode, which removes the vocals so any budding singer can take over!

What really makes this app shine is the wonderful animations. Almost every part of the screen is interactive and you can scroll to either side for more content. The characters exhibit a wide range of traits – some can be moved, some will interact with one another and some will make interesting sounds. I personally love the ice-skating cow and horse! In the Old Macdonald song, you can switch between seasons and the animals do completely different things.

If all this isn’t enough, there is a song studio included as well. This features a variety of animals and objects, each making their own unique sound when touched. Cleverly, you can touch things in any order and you will get a surprisingly good tune! The app is also bilingual, you can choose between UK/US English and German.

Little Fox Music Box is available for £1.99 in the UK App Store and has just had a graphical update for the New iPad’s retina display!

Review: Baby Jogger Summit XC

Sprogmama pushchairs, travel Reviews 8 Comments

Price: £319
Retailer: Chariots All-Terrain Pushchairs

++ Exceptional build quality, great performance, nice features
– Seat isn’t very upright, accessories a bit pricey

If you’ve read earlier entries in this blog, you may know that I have a bit of a buggy addiction. In February 2011, I found my Holy Grail everyday pushchair, the Stokke Xplory. However, it sadly isn’t suitable for solid off-road use.

After being disappointed with the iCandy Apple and the Maxi-Cosi Mura, I finally stumbled across the Baby Jogger Summit XC. Here’s my extensive review of this little-known pushchair.

Review: Little Green Sheep Organic Wool Duvet & Pillow

Sprogmama bedding, sleep Reviews 0 Comment

Duvet: £89.95
Pillow: £39.95
Retailer: Little Green Sheep

+ Exceptional quality, cosy yet breathable
- Expensive compared to “regular” duvets/pillows

If you’ve looked at my earlier reviews, you’ll know I’m a bit of a fan of LGS products and the company as a whole. So when I pondered buying some proper grown-up bedding for Sprogzilla, it’s no surprise they were my first port of call.

Review: Mothercare Cotton Sleepsuits

Sprogmama Reviews 0 Comment

Generally, we avoid buying new clothes as they’re just too expensive considering the limited amount of use they’ll get, but when Sprogzilla was around 6 months old we really wanted some warm, pure cotton sleepwear.

There were plenty of polyester sleepsuits around, but as Sprogzilla had just been diagnosed with eczema, we wanted to stay with the gentlest fabric possible. Organic cotton would have been perfect, but was far too pricey to consider.

Review: Angelcare Movement and Sound Monitor

Sprogmama sleep Reviews 0 Comment

RRP £89.99
Available from most major baby product retailers

+ Very sensitive, good value, tonnes of features
- Some false alarms, bright LEDs, insecure channels

From the moment Sprogzilla was born, I have worried (as many mums do I’m sure) about SIDS. I complied with all the professional advice to lower the risk – breastfeeding, putting him to sleep on his back, not smoking etc.

Still, I wanted something to give me further peace of mind by alerting me if he stopped breathing during the night and so I discovered this popular movement monitor from Angelcare.

Review: Red Castle COCOONaBABY Nest

Sprogmama Reviews 2 Comments

RRP £110
Retailer: BabyREFLUX and other online retailers

+ Comfy, secure, good for colic, reflux, poor sleepers
- Spare sheets over-priced

From barely a week old, Sprogzilla had colic and suspected silent reflux (the latter was eventually ruled out). He had to be rocked vigorously to sleep and would always wake up crying. As worried first-time parents, we felt miserable and helpless that we couldn’t make our son more comfortable.

Review: Stokke Xplory Evo V3

Sprogmama pushchairs, stokke, xplory Reviews 23 Comments

RRP £680
Available from Back in Action

+ Gorgeous design, excellent build quality
- Very expensive

Well, I’ve had this pushchair for a few months now and finally feel ready to give it the detailed review it deserves. And boy, I think this is the longest post I’ve ever written! I apologise for the lack of detailed photos, when I started writing this I thought I had taken more. If you’re reading this though, you probably already know the basics of the Xplory and have seen photos and videos elsewhere.
