PR Policy

Up until now (May 2012), all reviews written on Mummy Notes have been for products I have purchased myself. Nothing has been reviewed at the request of a PR company or retailer.

I am changing this policy, but the following criteria apply:

  1. I will only give completely honest reviews
Ensuring that readers are able to trust my opinions is of paramount importance to me. I will not pretend to like a product to gain favour with any company. However, if I dislike a product, I will always make it clear why and offer suggestions for improvement where applicable.
  2. I will always clearly disclose that a product has been sent for review
This will be listed along with the product info and always before the cut. I will re-iterate this at the end of the review.
  3. I will only review products that are relevant to myself and my family
I would ask that PR companies / retailers take a few moments to read my blog to determine the relevancy of any products offered for review. For example, I use only natural skin care and baby products, so I would not be interested in reviewing a mainstream shampoo.
  4. I will not do sponsored articles, post press releases or accept advertising requests
No exceptions, even if offered payment. I consider this type of content to be of little value to a blog and its’ readership.
  5. I will not litter my blog with excessive reviews
This site is first and foremost my personal blog. Reviews will not be a dominating factor, I do not wish to give my readers “review fatigue” or constantly peddle other people’s wares in their faces.
  6. I will take time to review a product thoroughly
I only write reviews after giving products a good workout and seeing how they hold up over time. Time taken will be product specific and also dependent on point 5, so please consult me first if you have any deadlines. Unless agreed otherwise in advance, I cannot make guarantees as to when reviews will be published.
  7. I will not partake in mass marketing campaigns
Simply put, I’m not going to review something if I discover that lots of other blogs have been offered the same product at around the same time. Many readers frequent the same blogs and they would not wish to be flooded with reviews for the same product repeatedly.
  8. I will not insert provided content, media, links or advertising in any review
The review will be entirely composed by me. The only link I guarantee to include will be to one specified retailer. Additional links will be of my choosing and only where appropriate. All photographs/video will be taken by me unless I feel stock material is absolutely necessary.

I apologise if the above criteria seem quite strict. As I’m sure you can appreciate, the integrity of this blog and respect for readers are important to me. As a benefit however, this means reviews will be high quality and relevant to the site (and thus, the readers).

If I cannot do a review, I will say so before the product is sent. I will communicate with you at all stages, where necessary. I will always honour my commitment to submit a review and I promise to make it informative and as detailed as possible.

I am happy to host competitions and accept products to be offered as prize material. These must still meet the applicable criteria above.

If, after reading this page, you feel that your product is suitable and would like to offer it for review, please do contact me using the form. I will respond to relevant requests if they can be accommodated within my schedule.

Alternatively, or if you would like to include attachments, you can email me directly at admin[at]mummynotes.com
