Sunday Summary

Sprogmama bathtime, milestones, teething Sunday Summary 6 Comments

With less than a week to go until Sprogzilla’s first birthday (woohoo!), I’ve decided to start a weekly post detailing any new developments, interesting events and general odds and sods occurring over the previous seven days. I should have done this earlier really – I have a basic log of milestones on the computer, but it would have been nice to share them here too. Oh well, better late than never……

So, what has the little lad been up to this week? Well, he’s still cutting that tooth of course. Every day we see a teeny bit more of it, but it’s not quite out yet. Really not sure if it will arrive by B-Day, would be a lovely present if it did (and perhaps we might get some sleep too?).

For the last few months, Sprogzilla has bathed in a large baby bath from Mamas & Papas. His increasing mobility and curiosity has meant that it no longer contains him very well, so yesterday evening daddy decided to pop him in the big grown-up bath. It was a great success, the little guy loved all the extra space and had great fun filling up his bath cups with water and lobbing them over the side! The bath plug is a bit of a temptation too, we’ll need to remove the chain I think.

For the last few days, we’ve noticed him putting toys inside things – only to be chucked/picked out again immediately afterwards of course. He has also started putting his sippy cup on the table instead of dumping it on the floor wherever he happens to be and has been very sweetly handing me things or putting them in my mouth – including half chewed pitta bread and other foodstuffs! Ewwww!

My favourite development this week is a new word – he can say “boo-boo” when wanting to nurse. It doesn’t happen every time, but it melts my heart to hear it. He is also making a high-pitched crooning song and loves to bounce on his knees when he hears music playing.

Today of course, is Father’s Day and it’s a very special one as it’s Sprogdaddy’s first. He received a huge card from Sprogzilla with a lovely photo on it and a chunky mug with “Daddy” written on the side.

Seems like a lot has happened this week, though it doesn’t really seem that way until I write it down. Next week, I’d like to finally announce that tooth, but we shall see…..

Review: Beaming Baby Eco & Organic Essentials

Sprogmama bathtime, lotion, nappies, shampoo, skin care, wipes Reviews 2 Comments

A few months ago, I came across Beaming Baby who were just about to launch their own brand of eco nappies. I was actually looking for baby-friendly bubble bath, but had been considering switching from the Sainsbury’s eco nappies Sprogzilla has been wearing since he was about two weeks old. I have since tried several of their products, here’s how I’ve gotten on with them:

£7.99 for 38 Maxi Nappies
£29.99 for 4×38 Maxi Nappies

The first time I heard about these new nappies was on Beaming Baby’s official facebook page. They wanted to produce a nappy with all the benefits of the existing eco brands they sell, with improved biodegradability.

The company very kindly offers two free nappy samples so you can try before buying a whole pack. I requested one in size Midi as my son was around 15lbs then, and a Bambo in the matching size.
